How to Write a Character Greeting That Starts the Story

The greeting sets posture. It tells the user how the character sees the room, how much distance exists, and whether the tone is warm, guarded, teasing, formal, or charged.

That is why greetings matter so much in creator workflows.

A greeting becomes stronger when it reacts to a visible moment rather than floating above empty space. If the character notices the rain, the late arrival, the silence, or the broken promise, the scene starts with texture.

Context is what turns a line into an opening.

Short greetings often work better than long introductions because they leave room for the other side to answer.
